Owned and run by Rachel Harris who has extensive experience working with adults and children with special educational needs and/or disabilities, as well as autistic individuals. The business is fully inclusive and LGBTQIA+ friendly.
Rachel is accredited by IMDT (Institute of Modern Dog Trainers). She is also an approved assessor for ADAA (Assistance Dogs Assessment Association), and trainer for PAWS Therapy Dogs and PAWS Assistance Dogs.
Rachel is the Animal Intervention Team Leader for Connecting - Mental Health Solutions in Education.
Our Services
Pet Dog Training
We offer one-to-one training for dogs in Leicestershire. Group training works towards the IMDT partnership grades. Training focusses on obedience, behaviours and social skills.

Assistance Dog Training
Rachel provides expert assistance dog training for an owner-trained dog from beginner level to public access standard.
Rachel can help train a variety of different behaviours, some are listed below:
- Deep and light pressure therapy
- Leading to an exit
- Item retrieval
- Opening and closing doors
- Alerting to anxiety
- Creating space techniques
Rachel provides flexible sessions to suit your needs, with the option for Rachel to work directly with your dog if needed.
Therapy Dog Training
Trusted Canine Companions offers training to prospective or current therapy dogs.
Rachel carries out an initial assessment and carries out training in schools. She will make sure the dog is school safe and give advice on risk assessments and insurance.
Overcoming a Fear of Dogs
Trusted Canine Companions offers sessions to help children, young people or adults overcome a fear of dogs.
The sessions are tailored to the individual needs of the client and all sessions work in a therapeutic way.
This is offered in three initial sessions with a review at the end to discuss progress.
Therapy Dogs in the Home
Is your child home schooled? Or does your child find it difficult to get to school?
Trusted Canine Companions can bring therapy dogs into your home - either your own pet or one of ours - to support your child's learning and needs
Wedding/Dog Chaperone
Are you getting married?
Would you like your dog at your wedding but you have no one to look after them on the day?
If so, Trusted Canine Companions can help you out.
Rachel offers a wedding/dog chaperone service. This includes looking after your dog during your wedding day, making sure they are present for key moments, walking them when needed and taking them home afterwards.
Dog Walking
Trusted Canine Companions offers a dog walking service to dogs who would struggle going with regular dog walkers or into doggy day care. Rachel assesses each dog and provides training as part of the walk.
Pet Sitting
Trusted Canine Companions offers a pet sitting service, going into the home environment to look after your beloved pets while you are away. Rachel has experience working with a variety of different animals from cats to rabbits to reptiles.
