Positive Reinforcement
Trusted Canine Companions uses positive reinforcement to train our dogs. We use kind, reward-based training to create a bond with our dogs and to allow them to grow into our trusted companions.
Trusted Canine Companions ask all clients to use a well fitted harness, lead and collar. All clients are asked to come to training with a variety of food rewards and a toy reward for their dog.
Trusted Canine Companions do not allow the use of prong collars, choke chains, slip leads, flexi leads, or E collars. Any client who turns up to training with any of this equipment will be provided with alternative training equipment. Trusted Canine Companions do not judge and are here to educate on reward-based training.
Any client seen handling their dog with excessive force or using physical correction will be asked to leave. A refund for the session would not be given.
Payment
All clients are asked to pay prior to their training session. This can be made via internet banking or cash given prior to the session.

Cancellation of a Session by the Client
Trusted Canine Companions ask for 48 hour notice to cancel a training session. If it is not cancelled within this time frame, then a refund will not be issued. If a client does not turn up to a session, a refund will not be issued.
Where a session is cancelled with a minimum of 48 hours’ notice, every effort will be made to rebook the session in a timely manner.
Cancellation of a Session by Trusted Canine Companions
In the unlikely event that Trusted Canine Companions have to cancel a session, then they will inform their client prior to the session over email, text or phone call. A refund will be issued so the session can be rescheduled.
Assistance Dogs
All assistance dogs require 3rd party public liability insurance and Trusted Canine Companions will ask for evidence of this to be kept on file. Trusted Canine Companions help train individual, owner trained assistance dogs without an organisation. If the client is with an organisation, Trusted Canine Companions will ask the client to disclose to their organisation that they are training with Trusted Canine Companions. Training will only commence when the organisation agrees to the training and Trusted Canine Companions have written confirmation of this from the organisation.
Trusted Canine Companions are happy to train assistance dogs for children and young people under the age of 18. Responsibility of training and handling will be discussed prior to any training taking place.
Females in Season
If a client’s dog comes into season, then Trusted Canine Companions ask them to inform their trainer of this. A female in season cannot attend group training classes, however, they may be able to attend one to one training sessions outside in a low risk environment.
Vaccinations
Trusted Canine Companions ask all dogs to be fully vaccinated and ask clients to provide evidence of this on their first session.
Family Friendly
Trusted Canine Companions is a family friendly business and are happy for children, friends or family to attend training sessions. All children are the sole responsibility of their parent or guardian. Please inform your trainer who will be attending the session with you.
Diversity and Equality
Trusted Canine Companions is an LGBTQIA+ friendly business. They have extensive experience working with clients who are autistic or have additional needs. Trusted Canine Companions work with clients with a range of disabilities and are happy to cater to the specific needs of the client. Trusted Canine Companions do not discriminate due to sex, race, gender reassignment, disability, sexual orientation, age or religion.
Insurance
Trusted Canine Companions is fully insured through Pet Business Insurance including public liability insurance up to £1,000,000.
